Go deeper into the spectacular world of James Cameron ’s Avatar™ and embark on a journey of redemption and discovery two decades prior to the events in the film. As Cpt. Ryan Lorenz, you’ll transmit your consciousness into the body of an experimental human-Na’vi hybrid, becoming the first avatar. Can you anticipate the powerful transformation a bout to unfold? Will you use your new powers to save the Na’vi, or will you work with the humans to destroy their world?
You play the part of Cpt. Ryan Lorenz, and ‘submit your human consiousness into the body of an experimental human-Na’vi hybrid” (basically you control a humanoid type creature) – just like the avatars found in the film. You can run, shoot, jump, climb and lots of other things, using a mixture of onscreen buttons and an onscreen joypad (just like the one in Real Football 2010 HD).
The controls work really well, with multi-touch support letting you press several buttons at once, and the onscreen joypad proving very responsive and accurate.
Your job – at least once you get out of the training compound, is to find particular objects, working your way through the various 3D worlds. The camera pans around the avatar, but usually spends most of the time following it. As such, it’s easy to see everything that’s going on.
The graphics in Avatar HD are simply amazing – this is without a doubt one of the nicest looking games we’ve seen to date on a mobile phone. It really does take advantage of the Nokia N8′s dedicated GPU, yet everything runs quickly and smoothly. The scenery is incredibly lifelike, with a real sense of depth.
The gameplay is equally compelling, with the graphics, controls and general speed of the game all combining to make a title that’s impossible to put down.
